James BOTTING (1597-?)

and Susan WILLETT (1603-?)

James Bottinge and Susan Willett married on 30 August 1624 in West Grinstead, Sussex.

James Bottinge was probably baptised on 20 August 1597 in Nuthurst, Sussex.  He was the son of James Botting (1565-1614) and Margery Walder (1563-?), and although the names of his parents were not recorded against his baptism, he was mentioned in his father's will of 1614.  He may have been buried on 28 January 1654 in Nuthurst.

Susanna Willet was baptised on 6 March 1602/3 in West Grinstead.  She was the daughter of Richard Willet (1560-1625) and Mary Field.

James Botting and Susan Willett had 8 known children:

  2. Susan Bottinge was baptised on 23 March 1628 in West Grinstead.  She probably married in West Grinstead on 17 April 1651 to John.  His name was recorded as John Awood in a transcript of the West Grinstead register and as John Renard in the the Sussex marriage index.

  3. Judith Bottinge was baptised on 20 December 1629 in West Grinstead and buried there on 23 December 1629.

  4. Richard Bottinge was baptised on 19 December 1630 in West Grinstead.

  5. Lea Botting was probably born in West Grinstead in about 1633. Her name and that of her father was recorded in the West Grinstead baptism register, but the date of her baptism was omitted.  She was buried on 6 June 1636 in West Grinstead and her name was recorded as Leah Botting in the burial register.

  6. Anne Botting was baptised on 21 February 1636 in West Grinstead.
