James BOSHER (1776-1847)

and Martha TUCKER (c1771-1847)

James Bosher and Martha Tucker were my 4x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 17 November 1801 in Cholsey, Berkshire.

James Bosher was probably baptised on 11 February 1776, the son of William Bosher (1754-1833) and Phillis Vize (1755-1838).  But he did have a cousin James Bosher who was baptised on 17 October 1779, the son of Thomas Bosher and Mary Park.  Both baptisms were in Brightwell, Berkshire.  I understand that 1779 James died aged 48 years in 1826 in Brightwell.  However, James died aged 66 years and was buried on 11 September 1847 at St. Mary's Wallingford, making his birth about 1781.  He was not living in the same household as his wife when the 1841 census was recorded and has yet to be found in the census.

Martha Tucker's date and place of birth are unknown, although from the 1841 census she stated she was born in Berkshire.  She died aged 76 years and was buried on 21 September 1847 at St. Mary's, Wallingford.  The 1841 census records that Martha Bosher was aged 65 and a Nurse living in the High Street, St. Peter, Wallingford, in the home of James Randall, a 25 year old Inn Keeper.

James Bosher and Martha Tucker had 7 known children:

1. Martha Bosher was baptised on 17 October 1802 in Brightwell - my 3x Great Grandmother.  She married George Warman (1804-1883) in 1828.  (They have their own page.)

2. Elizabeth Bosher was baptised on 12 February 1804 at St. Mary le Mor, in Wallingford.

3. Mary Bosher was baptised on 12 June 1806 at St. Mary le Mor, Wallingford.

4. Hannah Bosher was baptised on 8 May 1808 at St. Mary le Mor, Wallingford.

5. James Bosher was baptised on 16 September 1810 at St. Mary le Mor, Wallingford

6. Emma Bosher was baptised on 9 August 1812 at St. Mary le Mor, Wallingford.

7. Amy Bosher was baptised on 25 August 1815 at St. Mary le Mor, Wallingford.
