William BAXTER

and Mary NEWELL (1748-1829)

Newell were my 6x Great Grandparents. (Click
here to see their place in my pedigree chart.) They married by banns on 15 April 1765 in Cocking, Sussex.
He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Cocking.
The witnesses to the marriage were John Bettesworth and William
Gill. The bride, groom and witnesses all made their X marks.

there was another

Mary Newill may have been baptised on 5 February 1747/8 in
Easebourne, Sussex and have been the daughter of William Newill and
Mary. A Mary Baxter died aged 87 years and was buried on
23 January 1829 in Cocking (i.e. born about 1742).
