John BAXTER (1652-1711)

and Jane (c1660-?)

 

John Baxter and Jane married about or before 1688.  No possible marriage has been found in the Surrey Marriage Index.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  John was the brother of my 8x great grandfather, Peter Baxter.)

John Baxtar was baptised on 26 November 1652 in Haslemere, Surrey.  He was the son of William Baxter (c1620-?) and Sarah Hull (1623-1680).  He died in 1711 and left a will (ref 31 281).

Jane's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Might her surname have been Mory/Moorey/Murray?

 

John Baxter and Jane may have had the following children:

  1. Mory Baxter may have been born about 1690.  He died aged 51 years and was buried on 27 March 1741 in Dunsfold.  He married Deborah before or about 1716.  She died aged 72 years on 2 January 1744 and was buried on 5 January 1744 in Haslemere.  They may have had the following children:

    1. Robert Baxter may have been born about 1711.  He died aged 12 years and was buried on 30 December 1723 in Haslemere.  The burial register recorded that he was the son of Morey Baxter.

    2. Sarah Baxter was baptised on 14 May 1716 in Haslemere.  She died aged 9 years and was buried on 29 September 1725 in Haslemere.

  2. Jane Baxter was baptised on 29 March 1688 in Haslemere, Surrey.

  3. William Baxter was baptised on 14 November 1689 in Haslemere.

  4. Margaret Baxter was baptised on 23 October 1691 in Haslemere.  She married John Horsley on 12 June 1710 in Fernhurst, Sussex.

  5. A son was baptised on 1 October 1693 in Haslemere, Surrey.

  6. John Baxter was born on 11 November and baptised on 22 November 1695 in Haslemere.  Might he have been a butcher and died in 1746?  A will was left (ref 8 148).

  7. Nicholas Baxter was baptised on 23 August 1698 in Fernhurst, Sussex.  He may have married Hannah Ayling in 1721.  (They have their own page.)  Nicholas named a son Moorey Baxter in 1729.

  8. Dianna Baxter was baptised on 10 April 1700 in Fernhurst.

  9. Katherine Baxter was baptised on 26 March 1704 in Fernhurst.
