Stephen BAYTUP
(c1800-?)
and Elizabeth VINALE (c1805-?)

Stephen Baytup and Elizabeth Vinale married on 28
April 1830 in Nuthurst, Sussex. He was then of Nuthurst. (They were my not direct ancestors.)
Stephen Baytup's date and place of birth/baptism are
unknown, to me. Might he have been the son of
Thomas Baytup and
Martha Mitchell?
Elizabeth Vinall's date and place of birth/baptism are
unknown, to me.
At the time of the 1841 census the couple and 5 children were living in
Bolney. Stephen was then said to be a 40 year old agricultural
labourer and Elizabeth was 35.
I have not found the family in the 1851 census - might they have emigrated?
Stephen Baytup and
Elizabeth Vinall had 6
known
children:
-
Mary
Bautup was born on 15 March 1831 and baptised on 29 May 1831 in
Bolney. She was 10 years old in 1841.
-
James
Baytup was born on 23 November 1832 and baptised on 23 December
1832 in Bolney. He was 8 years old in 1841.
-
Stephen Baytup was born on 9
August 1834 and baptised on 29 September 1834 in Bolney.
He may have died
aged 3 years and have been buried on 2 July 1837 in Bolney.
However, there was another
Stephen Baytup
who was born on 20 January 1834 and baptised on 26 January 1834 in Bolney.
A transcript of the Bolney registers also records that a 5 month old
Stephen Baytup was buried on 6 February 1834 - might
the year have been wrong or his age?
-
Elizabeth Baytup was born on 2 November 1836 and baptised on 4
December 1836 in Bolney. In 1841 she was 4 years old.
-
Amos
Baytup was baptised on 31 March 1839 in Bolney. In 1841
he was 2 years old.
-
Reuben
Baytup was born 23 October 1840 and baptised on 27 December
1840 in Bolney. When the 1841 census was recorded he was 7 years
old.
