Sampson BARNES
(c1640-?)
and Susannah (c1640-?)

Sampson Barnes and Susannah married
sometime before or about 1664, in or around Westfield, Sussex.
Sampson Barnes date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to
me. Might he have been the son of Samson Barnes
(c1600-1671) and Tabitha who had married in Ore, Sussex in
1629?
Susannah's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to
me.
Sampson Barnes and Susannah had 3 known children:
-
John Barnes was baptised on 30 April 1665 in Westfield.
He may have married Ann
Neeves on 9 May 1689 in Hollington, Sussex, or
Sarah Boyse on 12 August 1689 in Ewhurst, Sussex.
-
A son was baptised on 28 October 1668 in Westfield.
-
Sampson Barns was baptised
on 4 December 1670.
He may have married Sarah Bird on 27 October 1698 in
Hollington. They were both then said to be servants.
They may have been the parents of:
-
Samuel Barnes was buried on 6 January 1698/9 in
Hollington, however, the burial register recorded that he was the
son of Samson and Mary.
-
John Barns was baptised on 22 September 1700 in
Guestling, Sussex. His parents were named as Sampson and
Sarah.
-
Sarah Barns was baptised on 27 April 1701 in Hollington.
The baptism register recorded that her parents were John and Sarah.
Were her parent's name wrongly recorded, or was she the daughter of
John Barns
and Ann Neeves?
A Sarah Barnes was buried
on 27 December 1716 in Hollington.
