Nicholas BARHAM (c1533-bef 1599)

and unknown

Nicholas Barham and unknown were my 12x Great Grandparents.  They may have married in about the 1550's.

Nicholas Barham may have been born in about 1533 at Butts in Wadhurst, Sussex.  He was the eldest son of John Barham (c1500-bef 1555) and Thomasyn.  He was appointed executor of his father's will.  He died before 1599.  His will may have been dated 19 September 1594, when he was described as a husbandman of Wadhurst.

Nicholas Barham and unknown had 2 known children:

  1. John Barham my 11x Great Grandfather, married Agnes Markwick before 1590.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Nicholas Barham was mentioned in the 1583 will of his Uncle John Barham (c1535-c1583) of Fayercrouch.  He may have been the Nicholas Barham who together with William Fowle were assualted on the road at Frant, between 10 and 11pm on 6 July 1591, by Nicholas Frier a tailor of Mayfield and William Tolherst a yeoman of Withyham.  On that occasion, Nicholas was robbed of a cloak worth 40s., a hat worth 6s. and a purse containing 3s. in money.  (William Fowle was probably my 11x Great Grandfather.  He was the son of Nicholas Fowle (c1522-1600) and Eleanor Isted.)
