William BALDWIN (c1736-?)

and Elizabeth ASHBY (1743-?)

 

William Baldwin and Elizabeth Ashby married on 14 April 1762 in Wadhurst, Sussex.

William Baldwin may have been baptised as William Balding on 14 June 1736 in Wadhurst, and have been the son of James Baldwin (1691-?) and possibly Catherine Callow.  He may have died in 1830 in Wadhurst.

Elizabeth Ashby baptised on 10 April 1743 in Mayfield, Sussex.  She was the daughter of Reuben Ashby (1703-1784) and Anne Turnis.  She may have died in 1817.

 

William Baldwin and Elizabeth Ashby had 5 known children:

  1. William Baldwin was baptised in May 1763 in Wadhurst.  He may have died in 1811.

  2. Philadelphia Baldwin was baptised on 30 October 1767 in Wadhurst.  A transcript the baptism register records her father's name as John.

  3. Samuel Baldwin may have been part of this family, as per a database at Ancestry.co.uk.  He was born about 1768.  Samuel married Elizabeth Pettitt in 1794 in Wadhurst.

  4. Sarah Baldwin was baptised in January 1771 in Wadhurst.  She may have died in 1848.  She may have married William Peckham by banns on 23 February 1789 in Wadhurst.  They were both then of Wadhurst.

  5. Philadelphia Baldwin was baptised on 9 July 1781 in Wadhurst.  She may have died in 1854.
