James BALDWIN (c1660-?)

and Ann DOWNWARD (c1665-?)

 

James Baldwin and Ann Downward married by banns on 19 April 1685 in Ticehurst, Sussex.

James Baldwin's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Might he have been baptised as James Baldin on 19 April 1657 in Ticehurst, the son of William Balden?  And was William baptised on on 20 February 1624/5 in Ticehurst, the son of John Baldwin?

Ann Downward's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

 

James Baldwin and Ann Downward had 9 known children:

  1. Mary Baulden was born in Ticehurst and baptised on 2 May 1686 in Wadhurst.  As Mary Balding did she marry Edward Lambert on 13 June 1714 in Wadhurst?

  2. John Baldwyn was baptised on 18 March 1687 in Ticehurst.  As John Balding did he marry Ann Bellingham by banns on 6 January 1713/4 in Wadhurst?

  3. Elizabeth Baldwynne was baptised on 6 April 1690 in Ticehurst and buried there on 13 July 1692.

  4. James Baldwynne was baptised on 27 September 1691 in Ticehurst.

    As James Baldy did he marry Catherine Callow (1705-1782) on 13 April 1722 in Etchingham, Sussex?

    James and Catherine may have had the following children:

    1. James Baldwin was baptised on 18 October 1724 in Ticehurst.  His mother's name was Catherine.

    2. John Baldwin was baptised on 11 September 1726 in Ticehurst.  His mother's name was Catherine.  Did he marry Elizabeth Bristow?  And were they the parents of Thomas Baldwin (1751-1829)?

    3. Anne Baldwin was baptised on 29 June 1729 in Ticehurst.  Only her father's name was noted in the baptism register.

    4. William Balding was baptised on 14 June 1736 in Wadhurst.  Only his father's name was recorded in the baptism register.  Did he marry Elizabeth Ashby in 1762?  (They have their own page.)

  5. Martha Baldwynne was baptised on 26 November 1693 in Ticehurst and buried there on 1 September 1695.

  6. William Baldwynne was baptised on 20 December 1696 in Ticehurst and buried there on 8 October 1699.

  7. Anne Baldwynne was baptised on 8 January 1698 in Ticehurst.

  8. Elizabeth Baldwynne was baptised on 3 August 1701 in Ticehurst.

  9. Thomas Baldwyn was baptised on 30 September 1705 in Ticehurst.  Did he marry Mary Carpenter by banns on 1 May 1735 in Ticehurst?
