Henrye BACKE (1630-1680)

and Hannah TOURLE (1638-1697)

Henrye Beck and Hannah Tworle were my 9x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 23 July 1657 in Willingdon, Sussex.  They were both then of Eastbourne, Sussex.

Henrye Backe was baptised on 9 May 1630 in Seaford, Sussex.  He was the son of Andrew Beacke (1585-?) and Elizabeth Baker (1593-?).  He was buried on 1 April 1680 in Folkington, Sussex.

Hannah Tourle was baptised on 23 December 1638 in Chiddingly, Sussex.  She was the daughter of William Tourle and Sarah Sixworth (1607-?).  She may have been buried on 5 April 1697 in Folkington, but the burial register just records that widow Beck was buried.

Henrye Backe and Hannah Tourle had 2 known children:

1. Thomas Beck was baptised on 1 November 1662 in Jevington, Sussex.  At the time of his baptism his parents were of Folkington.

2. Andrew Backe, my 8x Great Grandfather, was baptised on 11 December 1663 in Wilmington, Sussex.  He married Barbara Fuller in 1689.  (They have their own page.)

Henry and Hannah may also have been the parents of:

1. Henry Beck was buried on 6 March 1728/9 in Folkington, Sussex.  He married Elizabeth Audrell on 9 November 1686 in Arlington, Sussex.  He was then of Folkington and she of Arlington.  Elizabeth was baptised 23 August 1657 in Arlington and was the daughter of John Audrell and Elizabeth Fuller.  She was buried on 6 May 1705 in Folkington.  Henry and Elizabeth had 1 known son:

   1. Henry Back was baptised on 13 November 1687 in Folkington and buried there on 26 November 1687.

   Henry next married Silvestris.  She was buried in Folkington on 3 September 1729.  Definitely

2. Hannah Beck of Bishopstone, Sussex, married Joseph Glid of Wilmington, Sussex on 11 November 1697 in Bishopstone.  (Andrew and Marjorie's son Daniel was of Bishopstone when he married in 1723.)
