Wadhurst, Sussex

The following has come
from the "Sussex Weekly Advertiser"
9 June 1788 - Cricket at Wadhurst
Last Monday a most
excellent game at Cricket was played in the church field at Wadhurst,
between the Great Packhem Club and the parishes of Lamberhurst, Wadhurst
and Mayfield, which was ended the same day, and won by the latter by four
notches only.
I wonder if my 5x
Great Grandfathers,
Nicholas Barham (1750-1807) and
William Moren (c1763-1836), played or went along to watch.
Also at that time my 6x Great Grandfathers,
Nicholas Barham (1721-1790),
Charles Moren (c1725-1802),
Robert Strickland (1731-1794) and
Thomas Smith (1742-1827) were living in Wadhurst.
