Camber Castle, near Rye, Sussex

On Sunday 25 June
2006, I visited Camber Castle near Rye. Many thanks to the Rye Harbour
Nature Reserve Warden for showing a group of us from the Bexhill Rotary Club
around, and for explaining some of the history and conservation projects
about the castle. Also for telling us about how the area around the
castle is being maintained and improved for the benefit of wild birds and
insects.
The following are
some of the photos I took of inside the castle:
Central tower

tower

Fireplace in the central tower |
Roof of the castle's bread oven |
Tudor Rose decorating the outside of
the central tower |
Various views from
inside the castle
There are many
websites with further details about Camber Castle, which is maintained by
English Heritage and assisted by the wardens and volunteers of
Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.
